HAIR LOSS TREATMENTS

Hair Loss Treatments

Hair loss is a serious problem that affects self-confidence and motivation. Worldwide, 70 per cent of men and 40 per cent of women experience hair loss. Genetic factors are the biggest cause of hair loss, especially in men, the incidence rate is 99 per cent due to genetic reasons. However, medical technology offers many treatment options for hair loss. These treatments support the revitalisation of hair follicles and make hair thicker and shinier. These treatments, individually tailored by specialist doctors, can restore the vitality and health of the hair.

What is Hair Loss? Why does it happen?

Hair loss is the loss of hair strands as a result of weakening, damage or death of hair follicles. Hair loss indicates an abnormal loss of the hair growth cycle. The hair growth cycle consists of three phases: growth (anagen), transition (catagen) and resting (telogen) phases. Hair loss occurs when this cycle has more than normal loss and new hair strands cannot compensate for the old ones. This condition usually occurs when factors affecting the balance between hair growth and hair loss are disturbed.

Common causes of hair loss are as follows:

  • Genetic factors can cause hair loss in individuals.
  • Hormonal changes, especially increases in androgen hormones, can cause hair loss.
  • With the aging process, hair follicles weaken and hair loss may increase.
  • Lack of vitamins, minerals and proteins necessary for hair health can lead to hair loss.
  • Intense stress, trauma or emotional disorders can increase hair loss.
  • Medical conditions such as thyroid problems, cancer treatments (e.g. chemotherapy), polycystic ovary syndrome can contribute to hair loss.
  • Excessive processing of the hair, frequent use of chemical products can cause hair loss.
  • Autoimmune diseases can cause the immune system to mistakenly target hair follicles, leading to hair loss.

Types of Hair Loss

Hair loss can be of different types and each can occur due to different causes. Here are some common types of hair loss:

Male Pattern Hair Loss (Androgenetic Alopecia)

It is a type of hair loss frequently seen in men due to genetic predisposition. It can cause receding hairline and thinning at the crown.

Female Pattern Hair Loss

It is usually associated with ageing and hormonal changes in women. It occurs as thinning of the hair from the crown area.

Telogen Effluvium

It occurs as a result of a large part of the hair entering the resting period (telogen) at the same time due to stress, hormonal changes, childbirth, excessive weight loss or severe illnesses.

Alopecia Areata

The immune system can cause round or oval-shaped baldness by targeting hair follicles. It can cause hair loss in different parts of the body.

Traction Alopecia

It is a type of hair loss caused by weakening and rupture of hair follicles due to excessive stretching of the hair or tight hairstyles (e.g. ponytails, braids).

Tinea Capitis (Fungal Infection)

Fungal infection can affect the scalp and cause hair loss. Itching, redness and flaking symptoms can also be seen.

Anagen Effluvium

As a result of the effects of toxins such as chemicals, radiation or drugs on hair growth, it causes damage to the roots of the hair, leading to sudden hair loss.

Natural thinning of the hair

Everyone’s hair naturally becomes thinner with age. This type of hair loss is related to genetics and the ageing process.

These various types of hair loss can occur due to different causes and conditions. It is important for individuals experiencing hair loss to consult a health professional and determine appropriate treatment methods.

What is Good for Hair Loss? What are the Types of Treatment?

Treatments for hair loss may differ depending on the type of hair loss, causes and health status of the individual. Here are the treatment methods that can help hair loss:

Hair Transplant

Hair transplant is used to treat hair loss by taking hair follicles and transplanting them to bald areas. The most suitable hair transplantation treatment is selected from multiple hair transplantation methods. Thus, the hair loss problem of the person is solved from the root.

Hair Laser Treatment

Hair Laser treatment is a type of treatment used to reduce hair loss and effectively increase hair growth. According to the treatment planned in line with the needs of the hair, the blood flow under the skin is activated and accelerated with the hair laser, which is applied in 1 or 2 sessions for a total of 40 minutes per week. Acceleration of blood circulation allows more oxygen to go to the skin tissue, and oxygen increases cell production and renewal. Thus, the scalp is nourished; hair grows more lush, vibrant and healthy. With hair laser treatment, a noticeable increase in both hair follicles and hair quality is achieved.

Growth factor (GF) treatment

Growth factor treatment is a mesotherapy method performed by injecting a serum containing vitamins, minerals, amino acids and restorative components that have been proven by clinical research to strengthen and nourish the hair with micro-needles into the scalp. “Growth factor” treatment, which is applied for a total of 10 sessions once a week, is completed in 2.5 months.

PRP (Plaletet Rich Plasma) hair treatment

From skin rejuvenation to orthopedics, PRP (platelet/platelet cell-rich plasma), a method that we have heard frequently in every field in recent years, has been successfully used in hair treatments for a long time. In PRP hair treatment, platelet-enriched plasma obtained from the person’s own blood is injected into the hair follicles with very small micro-needles. The rich plasma content obtained from the person’s own blood stimulates the hair follicles and promotes hair growth. PRP hair treatment is completed in a total of 10 sessions, once every 15 days, once every three weeks or once a month, depending on the needs of the hair.

Growth factor + PRP hair treatment

In this method, where growth factor and PRP hair treatment are combined, the treatment is completed in 10 sessions performed once every 15 days, that is, in 5 months. This integrated treatment consisting of 5 sessions of PRP and 5 sessions of growth factor application is performed as 1 session of PRP and 1 session of growth factor after 15 days. In this mixed treatment where a visible improvement in hair is achieved, satisfactory results are obtained.

ACell+PRP hair treatment

ACell, also known as “hair vaccine” among the people, is a hair treatment method that has been successfully applied in the world and in Turkey for years. In the application, a nourishing serum called “magic powder” imported from America, containing vitamins and minerals needed by the hair, is injected into the scalp of the person under local anaesthesia with a special device. ACell treatment, which does not require repetition and effective results can be obtained in only one session, is an ideal solution for people who do not have time to have care due to their busy work schedule and therefore cannot spare time for sessions.
