Our goal is to give patients not only a natural appearance but also to preserve breathing function in the best possible way.

What is Rhinoplasty?

The nose is located in the center of the face and is one of the most striking organs on the face. The nose significantly affects the aesthetic appearance in proportion to the other structures on the face. If the individual finds one or more of the following problems with the shape of the nose disturbing, they may be inclined to consider surgery:

  • Arched nose
  • Curved nose
  • Sagging of the tip of the nose
  • Long nose tip
  • Wide and large nose tip
  • Narrow nose
  • Flattened nose tip

Rhinoplasty involves an operation to correct the appearance of the nose that the individual is uncomfortable with. During this procedure, bone and cartilage curvatures that prevent the patient from breathing are also corrected.

Am I a Suitable Candidate for Rhinoplasty?

Women over the age of 16 and men over the age of 18 are suitable candidates for rhinoplasty surgery.

As a result of preoperative evaluations, suitable candidates for rhinoplasty are determined. Suitable candidates are as follows:

  • Individuals without health problems.
  • Individuals with nasal deformity.
  • Individuals who are psychologically affected by nasal deformity.
  • Rhinoplasty candidates with realistic expectations.
  • Individuals 18 years of age and older.
  • Individuals without psychological problems.

These criteria constitute the basic criteria in determining the individuals who are suitable for rhinoplasty surgery.

What are the Types of Rhinoplasty?

Cosmetic Rhinoplasty

Cosmetic rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to improve the shape and appearance of the nose. It is one of the most commonly applied methods in rhinoplasty and usually includes aesthetic improvements such as correction of the nasal arch and nasal tip reshaping.

Revision Rhinoplasty

Revision rhinoplasty refers to a second surgery performed for patients who are unhappy with the results of a previous rhinoplasty surgery or are experiencing problems. It is performed to correct aesthetic or functional problems that arose after the first surgery.

Ethnic Rhinoplasty

Ethnic rhinoplasty is a type of rhinoplasty that includes aesthetic corrections suitable for the nasal structures of individuals with different ethnic origins. This method aims to achieve the desired aesthetic results while preserving the ethnic characteristics of the patient.

Ultrasonic (Piezo) Rhinoplasty

Ultrasonic rhinoplasty is a modern rhinoplasty technique using ultrasonic instruments that allow the surgeon to precisely shape the bones. It can provide less trauma and swelling compared to traditional methods.

Turbinate Reduction Surgery

Turbinate reduction surgery is a type of surgery that involves the reduction of flesh-like structures in the nose. This procedure aims to provide a solution to nasal congestion and breathing problems.

Tipplasty (nose tip surgery)

Tipplasty is a type of rhinoplasty that involves aesthetic corrections on the tip of the nose. It can be applied to correct the shape, size or symmetry of the tip of the nose.

Bulbous Nose Rhinoplasty

Bulbous nose rhinoplasty involves aesthetic corrections for patients with a wide or rounded nasal tip. The tip of the nose is thinned and the overall nasal aesthetics are improved.

Droopy Tip Rhinoplasty

Droopy type rhinoplasty is a surgical intervention to correct a drooping nasal tip. It is used to lift the tip of the nose and provide a more aesthetic profile.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

Non-surgical rhinoplasty is an aesthetic procedure performed to improve the appearance of the nose through non-surgical methods, usually using fillers or botox.

Bulbous Nose Tip without Surgery

Bulbous nose tip without surgery refers to alternative treatment methods to correct the problem of a wide or rounded nasal tip without surgical intervention.

How is Nose Surgery Performed in Turkey?

During rhinoplasty surgery at Esteworld Turkey, the plastic surgeon makes thin incisions in the nose to access the nasal bones and cartilage. These incisions are usually designed to be invisible after surgery. Depending on each patient’s wishes and appearance goals, the surgeon may remove some bone or cartilage or add additional tissue. Once the surgeon has completed the bone and cartilage arrangements, the skin and tissue are closed to reshape the nasal structure.

After the operation, a splint is placed outside the nose to support the new nasal shape. A nasal tampon may be used internally to provide additional support. At the Esteworld clinic, rhinoplasty is usually performed as an outpatient procedure, although in some cases patients may need to stay overnight. Whether the operation is performed under local anesthesia or general anesthesia depends on the patient’s unique situation and the surgeon’s discretion.

What are the Techniques Used in Nose Surgery?

Open Nose Aesthetics

In open rhinoplasty surgery, the surgeon starts with an incision in the middle of the nose. This incision allows the nasal skin and then the cartilage tissue to be removed. Necessary corrections are made according to the defects in the structure of the nose, then the removed cartilage tissue and skin are repositioned in the middle part of the nose. The incision is closed until the operation is completed. Open rhinoplasty is a preferred method because all structures can be clearly seen during surgery and the best results can be obtained.

Closed Rhinoplasty

In closed rhinoplasty, various incisions are applied depending on the procedure in the nose, but these incisions are made through the nostrils and are not visible from the outside. In closed rhinoplasty, post-operative swelling tends to resolve faster. Also, the experience of the surgeon is of great importance in this technique. Closed rhinoplasty offers a more comfortable and shorter recovery period for patients because it does not leave any visible scars due to the incisions made through the nostrils.

What Should Be Considered Before and After Rhinoplasty?

Before Rhinoplasty

For aesthetic operations, the patient’s age, physical characteristics, expectations, anatomical structure and current health status should be evaluated in detail. A special operation plan should be created for each patient.

  • Rhinoplasty operations should be performed by specialized plastic surgeons who have the ability to correct the aesthetic appearance of the nose and at the same time repair its functional structure.
  • Before the operation, it is important that the patient informs the surgeon and anesthesiologist in detail about his/her current medications, general health status and history. In addition, any upper respiratory tract infection, fever, cough, sore throat, abdominal pain, flu, cold or herpes should be reported to the doctor before the operation.
  • The use of blood thinners, herbal teas, fish oil, etc. should be stopped before the operation and special herbal cures should be avoided.
  • Considering that smoking may adversely affect the healing process, it is recommended to limit smoking for 2-3 weeks before surgery.

After Rhinoplasty

  • After rhinoplasty, it is important to support the head and sleep in an upright position to reduce the risk of developing edema.
  • It is important to eat and sleep regularly to speed up the healing process. Strenuous activities and activities that require bending should be avoided for at least three weeks.
  • The use of eyeglasses is not recommended for the first 4-6 weeks. In addition, exposure to direct sunlight should be avoided and the use of high-factor sunscreen or a protective hat is recommended.
  • Swimming in the sea, pool and sauna should be avoided for the first 4-5 weeks. Alcohol and cigarette smoking should be avoided after surgery, as these habits may adversely affect the healing of stitches and prevent tissue regeneration.
  • Avoiding blowing in the first weeks will also positively affect the healing process of the stitches.
